What will I do as a Volunteer Facilitator? As a Volunteer Facilitator, you will lead a team of seventh and eighth graders through exciting STEM-based problem solving activities after school, twice per week. As a mentor to our students, you will help them develop the crucial habits, skills, and mindsets they need to succeed in high school and beyond. You will work individually, or in small groups, with students to support students in developing Social and Emotional skills, particularly those related to communication, collaboration, and critical thinking.
Training: It is required that volunteers attend an orientation.
Qualifications: Must be a current high school student (at least sophomore) or college student. All academic backgrounds are welcome to apply. Prior tutoring, community service, and/or leadership experience are highly preferred. Must demonstrate personal commitment to academic excellence and enjoy working with youth.
Our student population: Motivated seventh and eighth grade students from schools in San Jose Unified and Franklin-McKinley School Districts.
Commitment: All candidates must be able to commit to four hours per week (approximately 36 hours per semester), corresponding to one of the follow sessions:

Mondays and Wednesdays, 4:30 - 6:30 pm OR
Tuesdays and Thursdays, 4:30 - 6:30 pm
