Delaney bantillo

middle School Program Coordinator

Delaney grew up in San José Unified School District, attended Schallenberger Elementary and Willow Glen Middle and High Schools, and graduated cum laude from Santa Clara University with a degree in math. She completed two minors, urban education and theatre arts, and explored communications, storytelling, and ethics while developing her love of language and culture. Before finishing second grade, Delaney already knew that she wanted to be a teacher when she “grew up,” discovering much later that “growing up” never really stops. We always have more to learn and experience. One of Delaney’s favorite things about being an educator is learning each student’s stories. We all have some to share and lessons to teach.

Delaney has taught and tutored middle school math and science subjects, English as a Second Language, college and career readiness, circus arts, and dance styles from around the world, observing that while education opens unlimited opportunities, not everyone has the same access to successes in the education system. She is determined to enable and effect equitable access to opportunities and achievement for every kind of person with any kind of background. After living in other parts of the world for a few years, Delaney is thrilled to bring her passion right back home and learn from and grow with Breakthrough’s 7th and 8th grade students and their families.
