Sergio Quinones

Sergio is from Eastside San Jose, and he attended the University of California, Berkeley where graduated with a degree in Sociology and a minor in CalTeach. Thereafter, he returned to San Jose to work in education with a focus on supporting our youth.

Sergio joins the Breakthrough team with diverse experience as a tutor, Spanish teacher, and Math teacher at Summit Rainier & Luis Valdez Leadership Academy over the course of 7 years. Sergio confirmed his belief in the next generation of leaders through his previous roles and believes in the need to personalize education for students.

As the Middle School Sr. Coordinator at FMSD, he is excited to support students in their exploration of their interests and the development of their academic habits and skills.

Fun fact #1: Sergio was a teaching fellow in 2014 and 2015

Fun fact #2: While at Berkeley, Sergio was a starter on the quidditch team.

Fun fact #3: Sergio performed stand-up comedy in Nicaragua.

Fun fact #4: Sergio coached Summit Rainier's cross country and track teams.
