Winnie joined Breakthrough Silicon Valley in July 2019, bringing to the organization a commitment to improve educational equity, and a wealth of youth development and nonprofit management experience serving underserved students in Silicon Valley and beyond.

Being a first-generation college student herself, Winnie experienced firsthand the life-changing impact of education, and the extra barriers students from underresourced communities encounter in their journey. She believes leveling the playing field means more than offering extra opportunities, but developing competencies and mindsets to help students become successful in life. She is excited to lead our six-year integrated and student-focused program, which has proven to be effective in preparing students to enter and succeed in college.

Prior to joining BTSV, Winnie led the program team at ALearn, then served as Director of College Readiness at Silicon Valley Education Foundation after the two organizations merged. Born and raised in Hong Kong, Winnie holds a Bachelor of Social Work degree from the University of Hong Kong and a M.A. in Journalism from the University of Maryland at College Park.
